May 6 @ 6:30 pm

|Recurring Events (See all)

An event every week that begins at 6:30 pm on Thursday, repeating until May 27, 2021

What’s all the buzz about? It’s the statewide Backyard Bees 4-H Club! This club is a “HIVE” full of FREE buzzing fun. The Backyard Bees 4-H Club will meet via zoom for six weeks every Thursday starting at 6:30pm.  Don’t let the virtual setting fool you; this experience offers a “honey pot” filled with honey bees, beekeeping information and activities.

Youth participating will be mailed a “FREEBEE” bee kit that will contain all the materials needed to participate. Activities will include but not limited to the following: dissect a honey bee, honey taste testing, build a honey bee bristle bot, bee-friendly seeds to plant and other beekeeping information. Sessions will also include: a virtual visit to a hive, bee installation, beekeeping equipment, pollination and more!

These fun, educational activities and sessions will be led by experts from the MSU 4-H Children’s Garden, MSU Entomology Department and 4-H Staff from across the state.

This club is open to youth ages 8-19. Limited to 30 participants, so “bee” quick and reserve your space today. Registration is now open and closes April 1, 2021.

Register by emailing Kaelie Fessler at fessler5@msu.edu.
