Child Find is a free screening for preschool children ages 0-5 suspected of having a delay in speech, motor, cognitive, emotional, or social development. Screenings are held at various times throughout the year at the Intermediate School District cooperatively with the Department of Public Health. At this screening, a child’s hearing, speech, and developmental skills are assessed to help determine the best programs and services for the child or if a more in-depth evaluation is needed. Further assessment may include evaluation by a Speech-Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Psychologist, Social Worker or other consultant. An in-depth evaluation will result in recommendations for the best programming and services available for your child, free of charge. Services that may be recommended include: Home-based infant and toddler services, classroom based programs, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Social Work services.
