The holidays are typically a time for joy, unity, celebration and overall feelings of happiness. Although the season brings many wonderful emotions, it can also trigger negative ones. Experiences can range from grieving the memories of our past loved ones, to the “first” or “tenth” Christmas without them, as well as traditions that have gone away or ones that you can’t seem to continue doing.
A time where one once felt filled with holiday cheer, may now feel empty or lost. Grief comes in many forms, and is easily heightened during this particular time. The holiday season is not always as merry as we want it to be. It is normal to feel apprehensive about it and you are not alone in feeling that way.
