This free, virtual class is available to anyone who interacts with youth ages 9 to 14.
Guiding Good Choices (GGC) is a free family class for anyone who interacts with middle schoolers. It provides the skills to reduce youth's risk for using alcohol/other drugs.
The class is six sessions of two hours each week. Children are required to attend one session that teaches peer resistance skills. The other sessions are solely for parents and include instruction on:
- Identification of risk factors for adolescent substance abuse and a strategy to enhance protective family processes
- Development of effective parenting practices
- Family conflict management
- Use of family meetings as a way for improving family management
