The KARS program provides low-cost car seats to U.P. children.
Michigan law requires children be properly buckled in a car seat or booster until they are 8 years old or 4'9″ tall. Children must ride in a car seat or booster until they meet the age or height requirement, which ever comes first. Car seats are available through WIC (Women, Infants and Children program) or a participating location. Extended family may also receive a discounted seat. UP residents who transport children are eligible to participate either through WIC or extended family programs.
