9/20/18 Kids Bowl Free Night 5pm-9pm at Bowl-a-Rama. Kids bowl free
with each paying adult. $1 each for hot dogs, fries and small soda. The

9/20/18 Delta County Great Start Parent Coalition Meeting 6pm-7:30pm at
the DSISD. Enjoy a Parent Café discussing meaningful topics around parenting

attending.
9/22/18 Reading with Raptors Great Start Family Story Time 1pm at the
Escanaba Public Library. Family story time with the Chocolay Raptor Center.
Free books for families of children ages 8 and under, snack and live

9/22/18 Family Flick & Fun Night for families of children ages 6-12 years at
the YMCA. 3pm-5:30pm or 6:30-9pm free for member/$5 for nonmembers
includes swimming, family fun and a movie. Must register

9/23/18 Sunday Cyber Bowling Special noon-7pm at Bowl-a-Rama. $7 for

9/24/18 Read & Rise Workshop 5:30pm-7:30pm at OSF Hospital. Parents of
kids pregnancy through 1st grade will learn how you help their children
understand language, reading and to get ready for school success. FREE!

9/29/18 Fall Craft & Vendor Show 10am-2pm at the Escanaba Civic Center.
Start your holiday shopping plus a raffle with proceeds going to Toys

9/25/18 Drawn To Discover A 3 week session for preschoolers through
2nd grade. Build handwriting skills through pencil grip and fine muscle
control while drawing. Develop your child’s ability to reason, create, and
comprehend through educational STEAM inspired lessons. Visit

10/6/18 Happy Tails Story Time 10:30am -11:15am at the Delta Animal
Shelter meets on the 1st Saturday of the month for kids ages 3-5 years old.
Features animal related stories, activities and an opportunity to meet
some animal guests.

Our MISSION is to create a team of parents, working together, to provide families with information,
a supportive network, and the chance to make a positive difference in Delta County.
We work to ensure ALL children enter kindergarten safe, ready, and eager to learn.
September Community Family Events
The Delta County Great Start Parent Coalition meets monthly from 6-7:30pm
Our next meetings: September 20th & October 18th at the Delta-Schoolcraft ISD, Escanaba
Gladstone Farmers Market Mondays from 3pm-6pm next to the Gladstone
Square Pharmacy on Delta, Ave. www.gladstonemi.org
Escanaba Farmer’s Market open Wednesdays 3pm-6pm and Saturdays
8am-noon at 9th Street and 1st Avenue North , Escanaba
9/11 & 9/13/18 1st Aid and CRP Training 6pm-9pm at YMCA. Red Cross
course consist of 6 hours of basic CPR training for adult and pediatric,
First Aide & AED training. Learn how to help in emergency situations.
Ages 14 & up. All classes are mandatory. $125 Members $200 General

9/13 -10/25/18 Toddler Art and Music at the Bonifas Thursdays, 9:30am-
10:15am. Ages: mobile to 3yrs and their caregivers. Creative play activities
and music led by professional teacher/musician, Lorne Watson.
Combining fun and learning to nurture imagination, problem solving
and develop motor skills. $32 for monthly session or $5 per daily session.

9/13 -10/25/18 Preschool Art and Music Thursdays 10:30am-11:15am for
4&5 year olds. A joyful experience for preschool-aged children and
their caregivers. Young artists will explore layering, textures, and colors
in varied mediums such as paint, clay and drawing. Their imaginations
will grow as an individual and through collaborative projects based in
art-play, storytelling and music. 6 week session $45. Walk-ins welcome.

9/13/18 Won’t You Be My Neighbor? 7pm at Besse Theater. Documentary
film on the life and legacy of Fred Rogers. Part of the Bay College
Film Series. $5 gen admission, $2 students with valid ID, FREE for Early
Childhood professionals who pre-register plus, 6pm reception in the

9/16/18 Delta County Century Ride Family bike ride for all endurance
levels. Ride includes expert SAG service and great rest stops where the
only thing better than the view is the food! $30 in advance, $25 late

The Great Start Parent Coalition held it’s annual Family Picnic
on 8/4/18 at Van Cleve park We welcomed new families and
celebrated together with games, food, activities and great
prizes. Thank you to all of the businesses who donated and
support our community. We hope YOU will join us this year
and help give all kids a Great Start in School and in life!
