Community Calendars
Great Start recognizes the importance of community involvement and the value of opportunities for families to learn and grow together. We have created these community calendars as a way to share timely community events with you. If you know of any events please take time to add them to our community calendar or forward the information to gsevents@dsisd.net. Please encourage the agencies and organizations that you partner with to do so as well so we can have a comprehensive one stop shop for early childhood information in our communities.

Labor Day Celebrations
8/29/25 Manistique Fireworks 9pm-10pm Fireworks at Dusk over the
Manistique Marina. Rain date will be on Sunday.
8/30/25 Labor Day BBQ Party 11am-2pm Celebrate Labor Day at
Hoholik’s Ace Hardware. There will be a complimentary BBQ, food,
drinks, and a bounce house. 147 River St Manistique MI.
8/30/25 Rock Lions Labor Day Celebration 11am parade through Rock.
Ends at the Lions Club grounds with activities for all ages. Music, food,
bounce house, games and more. Located on M-35 in Rock, MI
8/31/25 Nahma Labor Day Celebration 11am parade, car show, bounce
house, log sawing contest, face painting, bounce houses, games and live
music from 11:30 until 8pm.

4pm-8pm Stonewall

9/1/25 Escanaba Labor Day Celebration
Noon Parade down from the Marketplace down Ludington Street to
Municipal Dock. Followed by a bounce house, obstacle course (2pm-6pm), beer tent & Bloody Mary bar, food and music. Ends with golf ball
drop at 6pm
1pm-2:30pm Grand Design
3pm-4:30pm Delta Players
5pm-6:30pm House band with Pete Ammel
