Community Calendars
Great Start recognizes the importance of community involvement and the value of opportunities for families to learn and grow together. We have created these community calendars as a way to share timely community events with you. If you know of any events please take time to add them to our community calendar or forward the information to gsevents@dsisd.net. Please encourage the agencies and organizations that you partner with to do so as well so we can have a comprehensive one stop shop for early childhood information in our communities.

Schoolcraft County Resource Fair
8/20/25 Schoolcraft County Resource Fair 4pm -7pm Manistique
Middle/High School Gymnasium, 100 N Cedar Street, Manistique, MI.
Receive valuable community resources and information from
organizations to help you and your family. Household Item Giveaways,
Toiletries, Diapers & Over 25 Community Resource Vendors! Free
Transportation is available; you must call 906-341-2111 to book a ride in
advance. If you would like to become a vendor, please call Jessica Baker
for more information at (906) 341-3750. (This will be held in conjunction
with the Manistique Area Schools Back-to-School Gala and the First
Baptist Church’s I Heart Manistique back-to-school backpack drive.)
8/20/25 Gear Up Gala- Back to School Event 4pm-7pm 100 N Cedar St.
Manistique. Haircuts by the Cutting Crew, new shoes, hygiene items, and
clothing support. At the First Baptist Church kids can get a new backpack,
school supplies and families can get a hot dog dinner. (you must attend to
receive the school supplies)
